Penang was without a doubt our favourite place in Malaysia. Abundant street art, the constant smell of freshly barbecued food permeating the air and the endless artisan markets were enough to make us want to move here. We walked around in the 30 degree weather the first day and instantly decided that from here on out we’d be riding a bicycle if for no other reason than to just get a breeze of air. We covered a lot more ground and were than if we had stayed on our feet and we were glad for the easy rides and clear cut bicycle lanes. We spent our days searching for the best sights to see and then riding there and back, once we found New Lane Hawker food we knew thats where we’d be for dinner every night. The variety, freshness and overall atmosphere of walking down that street was like a magnet pulling us back each night. We made plenty of friends and learnt a lot about the history and culture of Hawker food from the genuinely friendly people that make up Penang. We highly recommend anyone who loves food to seek out New Lane Hawker food in Penang, you will not regret it.
